Shockwave Therapy
Physiotherapy is a treatment to restore, maintain and improve a client’s mobility, function and wellbeing. A physiotherapy treatment aims to repair damage, reduce stiffness and pain, increase mobility and improve quality of life. Book a physiotherapy treatment if you suffer from limited range of motion, office syndrome, chronic pain, a sports or other injury, any kind of physical discomfort or if you require rehabilitation – it is likely your physiotherapist can help. Our physiotherapy treatments generally start with an assessment, the use of ultrasound on the affected area, manual mobilization and massage techniques, relaxation massage and then exercise for the affected area. At the end of the session your physiotherapist will assign some exersizes for you to do easily at home to continue the repair work Our aim in Body Conscious is to have you functioning to full capacity as quickly as possible. Please support this process by following the physiotherapists post treatment plan as explained during your treatment.
BENEFITS
• Improve blood circulation and healing process
• Reduce stiffness and pain
• Increase mobility
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
• Active bone disease or cancer
• Local acute infection.
• Joint and ligament instability, fracture and dislocation.

Remedial massage treats the body’s muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues in order to aid in the rehabilitation and the management of pain or injury on any part of the body. Prior to the actual treatment we complete an assessment to understand the underlying reasons for the pain or discomfort and then apply massage techniques to create a favourable environment to restore your body to its normal function. Unlike a relaxation massage and depending on the injury or pain there may be some discomfort experienced as pressure and manipulation is applied to improve the blood flow to the area and reduce muscle tension. Our experienced therapists ensure the techniques used are aimed towards the fastest recovery.
BENEFITS
• Increases blood flow to the affected area and healing of muscular pain
• Enhances immune function
• To relax and destress
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
• Unstable vital signs
• Active bone disease and/or cancer
• Local acute infection
• Joint and ligament instability, fracture and/or dislocation
Therapeutic deep tissue massage pays particular attention to the trouble spots in your body. The massage therapist uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons or other tissues deep under the skin. This helps relieve chronic tension and also helps with muscle injuries.
BENEFITS
• Increases blood flow to the affected area and healing of muscular pain
• Enhances immune function
• To relax and destress
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
• Unstable vital signs
• Active bone disease and/or cancer
• Local acute infection Joint and ligament instability, fracture and/or dislocation
Recommended for those who suffer from any chronic pain. This technology bring the acoustic waves with high energy peak used in Shockwave therapy interact with tissue causing overall medical effects of accelerated tissue repair and cell growth, analgesia and mobility restoration. All the processes mentioned in this section are typically employed simultaneously and are used to treat chronic, sub-acute and acute conditions.
BENEFITS
• Stimulation of fat breakdown
• Reduction of cellulite
• Enhanced collagen synthesis and lymphatic drainage

Therapeutic ultrasound is a modality that has been used by physiotherapists since the 1940s, the ultrasound device generates sound waves that penetrate to the muscles and bones beneath the skin helping to establish better blood flow to repair the area on which it is applied. Ultrasound is applied using the head of a probe that is placed in direct contact with your skin via a transmission supporting gel. Ultrasound increases local blood flow, reduces local swelling and chronic inflammation and promotes muscle regeneration and bone fracture healing. The depth of the waves are adjusted by your therapist depending on the desired effect. A greater power density is often used in cases where scar tissue breakdown is the goal. The most common conditions treated with ultrasound include soft tissue injuries such as tendonitis and sprains, non-acute joint swelling and muscle spasm. Most muscle and ligament injuries can benefit from therapeutic ultrasound. In this treatment your therapist will use the ultrasound probe on the area of pain and will demonstrate exercises you can do at home to help with repair.
BENEFITS
• Increases blood flow and muscle healing
• Reduces local swelling and chronic inflammation
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
• Osteoporosis
• Varicose veins
• Obliterative arteriopathy
• Hemorrhages
• Menstruation
• Neoplasia
• Tuberculosis

Re-functional exercises are an important part of overall recovery, and help restore strength, range of motion, and endurance. The overall goal of these exercises is to restore you to your former activity level and strength. Re-functional exercises are also crucial for preventing future injuries. Your physiotherapist will assess your condition, diagnose the problem, and help you understand what’s wrong. Your treatment plan will take into account your lifestyle, activities and general health. The following are combined treatment methods used by our physiotherapist:
• Exercise programs to improve mobility and strengthen muscles
• Joint manipulation and mobilization to reduce pain and stiffness
• Muscle re-education to improve motor control and electrotherapy for muscles endurance
BENEFITS
• To improve muscle lengthening and increased flexibility
• To improve bones and joints in the correct postural alignment
• To prevent the spine from becoming locked into an irregular position
• To prevent strain and overuse of muscles
• To improve proprioception/balance and weight transference
• To improve core stability and muscle balance around the pelvis
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
• Unstable vital signs
• Active bone diseases or cancer
• Local acute infection
• Joint and ligament instability, fracture and dislocation
